The snail mosaic takes pride of place in the Community Garden; a project initiated by Hazel Goldman at Grove Guest house with the help of numerous local residents, it really embodies the sense of community and place that the garden seeks to nurture.

The Snail carries its home on its back.
My grandparents were immigrants – they too carried their homes, their belongings, carefully with them; the suitcases always ready on top of the wardrobes in case we needed to leave. The team of 70 neighbours, family and friends, locals and guests of Grove Guest House who created this mosaic have grandparents from over 30 countries.
What traces of our lives will be found in the future?
What will we leave in the garden?
