Green Forest Gate is a project working with local schools to introduce pupils to the Community Garden and encourage them to get growing!

The project takes a number of different forms with both practical sessions, worksheets, online content and face to face learning sessions.

St James School
Working with volunteers from the Community Garden, new hedgerows containing a selection of hedging from the Woodland Trust were planted alongside the school playground. They will improve the air quality for pupils at the school, improve surface drainage and provide new and diverse habitats for birds and insects.
Pupils from the school will tend to the hedges, use them as a learning resource and grow with them over the coming years…
….
The children have been working hard to also plant up fruit trees and vegetable beds as they learn about how to nurture plants from seed to fruit.
Who knew gardening club could be so fun!
