Growing in Small Spaces

You don’t need a big garden to enjoy growing things – come along to this workshop to learn more about how to grow in small spaces such as balconies, patios, windowsills, and even indoors. We will be learning about different containers, plants that do well in small spaces, and how to create optimal growing conditions in any location.

You Can’t Grow That Here!

How can we grow international food staples in the UK? This workshop will look at how to create the conditions to grow things such as okra, callaloo, chilli and Mediterranean herbs in a cold, wet climate with heavy clay soil. We will also be learning how to make small greenhouses out of waste materials to help with growing plants from warmer tropical locations.

Abbey Gardens: Saturday August 27, 12pm – 1pm

Forest Gate Community Garden: Saturday August 13, 2pm – 3pm

Manor Park Community Garden: Sunday August 14, 11am – 12pm
